Padraig Harrington had you thinking about the psychological side of things, I would love to see you engage a sports psychologist in the same way someone would go to Dan Grieve for a chipping lesson. You wouldn’t need to do months with them, and you wouldn’t need to film it, just do this podcast at the end of the journey and describe what impact it had. You can still film the events as usual, which we all love, but I think we’d all love it if you got through next time round too. End of the day though, love the content, whatever you decide just go do it!!

If you’re planning a golf trip just come to the south of Ireland. You got old head, tralee, ballybunion, Lahinch, Waterville and dooks all links within 2 hours of 1 central point. Also have Killarney and fota which are Irish open parkland courses and adare manor which is hosting the Ryder cup. Probably in forgetting a few aswell

Ballybunion and lahinch have new courses that are not considered as prestigious as the old ones and maybe not as spectacular but still amazing for better value. Doonbeg and dooks aren’t very expensive. Killarney and fota arnt crazy expensive either. Still gona cost €50 to €150 a round.

The Irish Tourist Board will be delighted with you. Glad I played at least one of them, well just one! Pricing is an issue at some of them; they are not for the ordinary bloke who thinks paying north of, and well north in some cases, £200 for a round of golf is ott over the kids. I would much prefer a list of the best courses that welcome everybody and not just the high rolling yanks.

Should be allowed to play as they are pros . However filming should be from a distance via mobiles not big camera in respect for the other golfers. The question is , would they enter for the golf if they didn’t get content. I very much doubt it.

@jacob - you can laugh at the idea of scammers doing this for tee times, but do the math. It’s ridiculously lucrative. Figure the scammers tack on $50 to every $200 foursome they sell, and the average course here will do between 50 and 60 tee times a day (5 an hour) That’s between $2500 and $3000 pure profit for a single golf course. Just LA City golf has 6 18 hole courses… now the scammers are making 15 to 20k a day. And that’s just one business’ 18 hole courses.

It’s funny I live in Rhode Island. Was playing a round when one of the guys I was playing with said it happened. Funny stuff, I think the odds would be even higher considering most courses don’t have 2 par 3s in a row.

the rarity comes less from the odds of a hole in one but from how few courses have back to back par 3s. There are two methods of calculating the odds due to the nature of the numbers provided by the PGA - 1/3000 for a single ace, 1/67'000'000 for a double - I can't make sense of the correlation so we'll divide the 67 million number by the number of cases a back to back can occur. There are six cases in which a double ace can occur. In three of them the aces are back to back (discounting the non par-3s between them) assuming all 4 par3s are back to back: 1 in 134 million. assuming 3 back to back par3s: 1 in 201 million. assuming only two of the par 3s are back to back: 1 in 402 million. I can't find a number for how many courses have back to back par 3s but multiple the odds by the ratio of courses with back to back par 3s and you'll see why this has never happened before. NB my maths might be very wrong, it's 11 at night and I didn't think very hard about it.

Surprised by all the comments about not trying anymore. I think the series can be even better. The prep videos are great for anyone getting ready to play well. Seeing an actual event is great for the viewer to see how hard it is to play under pressure. Sure silly videos are fun as well, but this is great content to see into the mind of the golfer trying to play well in comps. Most golfers don't get to see this side of professionals.

Pete loved the build up, love the idea of having a real caddie for open qualifying ( Maybe even try and grab Rickie and have you guys split up the 9's for putting videos out). To help with the pressure maybe not have the guys live blogging it to take some of the pressure off your self and help relax a bit more. Also why not the week or two b4 qualifying play some easier courses to help the confidence leading in and not playing in windy a$$ Ireland. Ps. lets not go dragging the Steven WIlliams's threw the dirt 🤣😂

It's easy to film, make a video with a tour pro who deals with this pressure week in and week out. They have a trigger, a switch that allows them to stand over the ball and think one thing and one thing only, TARGET. Final qualifying was another level of focus, dodberry was outstanding. Karl Morris spoke about triggers to switch on and off, Zen golf spoke about clearing your mind and letting negative thoughts come and go. Margins for error at that level are so small, a single bad thought over a shot can cost you a place in the Open. You have to keep putting yourself in that pressure situation and find a way to deal with it. Thats why great caddies give you clear triggers before a shot. #nevergiveup

Pete I will be honest, the quest for the open was interesting and also disappointing you didn't get to the next stage. You have as much right to try and qualify as anybody else. Im sure as a team you will have looked at the analytics and seen that the views are up etc etc. Your business is making content and ultimately earning a living from that and in my opinion you are head and shoulders above a lot out there. You must always be looking to change, diversify etc for the business to grow and I'm sure your team's role is to help and influence that for you. Keep being Pete but maybe pivot away from the open quest for a couple of years and do something fresh that keeps us engaged. Too many RUclipsrs don't do that and then see themselves struggle. It's a tough gig as you know so keep it fresh and you will grow.
